Evgeny Kissin - repertoire (updated version)

This is the whole program? Seems a little short.

He put it on his official website. Well, nocturne is some 7-8, impromptus about 18, scherzo 10, polonaize 7, so around 45 minutes. Khrenikov I don’t know, but Berg is 10, Gershwin 7.

Unlezz he’z gone full :pogo: :wim:

It’ll surprise no one what I’ll write below this. I don’t like the kid at all, the youngster interests me only for the chops (though good studio recs), but during the past 8 years now I think he’s finally found his voice. And it’s a coarse one - but so was Cobain’s.

I just receive mail from Kissin, via my friend. It starts like this:

“Here are some additions and corrections to K. Starcevic’s list of my repertoire:”

And there he put all works he can remember at the moment :sunglasses:

“The name of the composer of the last Piano Concerto in the list is KHRENNIKOV (“Khernikov” sounds hilariously obscene in Russian).”

@Dr.TM?

“Khren” means horseradish.

Slang for “dick” but not as vulgar as HUI :hui: which only has one meaning - “cock”

Among other things:

@xsdc Kissin said he didn’t play Scriabin’s Sonata No. 5. But he did play Prokofiev’s March, Op. 12 no. 10. Can you please check two things: Did he play Chopin Mazurka in G minor, Op. 24 no. 1 in 2006 as an encore? I have a recording from February 2016 from Belgrade, where he did it as a fourth encore. Another thing - which encores did he play after 2009 Prokofiev (8th sonata) & Chopin (Etudes) program? Vienna’s Musikverein is listing Chopin Nocturne in C sharp minor op. posth. as a first encore, but he said he never played. Maybe it was 27/1 nocturne?

He played Brahm’s First Cello Sonata in E minor, as well as some song transcriptions, both with cellisr Alexander Kniazev. @Ron Can you check if Kissin really played that Divertimento by Haydn with Ghorokov?

What more is, I looked in to this a little yesterday and I actually found a friend who has a recording of it listed.

The problem is that he’s dead. :confused:

I don’t have it from that year

Or autism.

I think he does. The way he behaves in interviews goes beyond what I’m prepared to call normal.
