Let me put it this way....

Yes, that was pretty much my impression too. The originality seemed to come more from hours of practice than a probing mind. A bit of Weissenberg in there though.

Anyone got any non-Peter-Lemken recital recordings of Igor Zhukov?

Does anyone have any recitals of Vladimir Ovchinnikov? There was that early CD of his which contained the '93 Rachmaninoff pieces. I haven’t herad anything else.

I have somewhere his complete Rachmaninov Etudes, Liszt Transcendental Etudes and I think Grieg Violin Sonatas. Will search for it.

Ovchinnikov plays one of my favorite TE sets. If only had a slightly bigger dick for Mazeppa and FF. :rectum:

The Rockets disc is one of my favourite (if not my favourite) complete sets but I don’t have any recital recordings.

I found Ovchinnikov records - will upload them these days.

Thanks very much.

Now onto the next pianist

Neuhaus pupil Margarita Fyodorova doesn’t get much attention, in part because her recordings are so rare.

So apparently, according to Ukranian and Czech websites, EMI released a 10 disc set (online or otherwise) of her recordings. I’ve put the links below. Does anyone have this? I can’t find anything else about it.

They’re pretty good.
I’ll see if I can find the pic I took of the Cortot one at École Normale.
Might be one of Lipatti and Enescu too, can’t remember.

Are there any recordings of Volodos from his time studying in Russia?

I’ve been thinking about that as well. There has to be, but I have never heard of any.

Yeah I bet some exists too. I haven’t yet come across the Russian equivalent of da SDC, but I bet when I do, they’ll have it! Hey tru MOFO where’s the Russian SDC?
