Octave Drill Suggestions

Hey guys,

Still really struggling with octaves in the paganini etude no. 2 … Does anybody know good drills for arpeggiated, especially (zig sag skips in 4ths and thirds) and octaves runs with chords stuck in between.

Put a fair amount of practice in this piece and pretty much everything is moving along except central section. Its too short for stamina problems but accuracy… oh boy physically super confusing to the hands.

  1. Pimpzon first octs sect.
  2. Da Tchaik 1 first movements octs sects, esp dat arpeggio unpenizdick one.
  3. Brahms 1 first movt octs unleash
  4. Da bitchy azz part ov da :pimp: orage wiz da alt octs by tritone forming a sequence of diminished 7ths

Octs wiz chords in between, randomly da Chop 25-10 n da Scherzo from Chopzon 2.
Pure octs writing is alien to da Chop penizdick stylee.

Da develoment sect of da brotha emperor mvt 1 got an extended octs passage tru.

Most sequential sheeyats are, gonna be one or two unpenizdick ones dat u juz gotta solve

Da old school pure compo mofos (of all mofos - Liszt, brotha n Scrib) - dun adjust dat shit fo penizdick considerations, unlike Rach (or Chopin to sum xxtent)

This good advice. Never looked at any of those passages. Only mofo octave stuff I’d played in olden times was hung rhappah 6 which really more about fapping than controlled octave mastery

Also, Liszt 1st concerto has many octs passages, check partd of the scherzo fo doze diminished 3rd sequenetial octs

Shouldn’t he create octave exercises using the piece itself rather than all this cross-training using other sheeyats? That’s what I’d do.
