Amazing lists of Rach’s new repertoire for each season.

Actually there’s a lot of info in that book but google books is a bit tricky and doesn’t show all pages -

You can find lists here -

This is interesting but I’d love to see actual printed pages of the programs, if there are any.

The inherent difficulty finding Rach programs is the fact that googling around Rachmaninoff program will mainly lead you to concerts where his music was played, billions of programs…and not so much HIS concert programs :whale:

I’d love to see exactly where he placed Comme le Vent in a program!

Yes, da fuck?? And the funeral march too.

Amazing! Also, Ravel’s ‘Tocatta’ (sic) in 1928! Fuck if only these pieces were recorded!

Two of my fav pianists, Sofronitsky & Kamensky, shared a Scriabin program back in 1940

Who was playing Wagner? It’s too hard to read.

Igor Miklashevsky was conducting Wagner. There’s an interesting article about him here, in Russian. Apparently he was one of the early Scriabin exponents. Died of starvation in 1942.

http://old.conservatory.ru/files/Musicus_43_Makhmutova.pdf

Sofronitsky & Kamensky played (respectively) the Scriabin PC and, I think, Prometheus.

Never heard of him. It would probably take me several hours to read through that, even with a dictionary. Russian was too hard for me. :lib:

Oh yeah that’s hard, I need both a dictionary and translator for that. But there’s basically nothing else about him on the net, so…

I also can’t read day sheeyat. But what is da circumstance of his starvation death? The war?

Yeah the Leningrad Blokad, aka Siege. One of many to go out that way, apparently. And he was offered a chance to leave beforehand too.

While digging through an article I found the announcement of Rachmaninoff’s 1915 Scriabin program:

I would’ve loved to have heard it. This series of concerts was very controversial.

Richter in Bergamo 1966:
Beethoven: Sonatas, opus 90, 101, and 106.

Sadly, the program was changed and he didn’t play the Hammerklavier until 1975.

Program was changed to:
Beethoven: Sonatas, opus 22, 26, 90, and 101.

A bunch of scanned 3rd+ generation Xerox copied VHorowitz programs, reviews and articles dating from 30's through the 50's. The source is via my old teacher, Mr. Richard Volpe, of the VH 1957 Carmen Paraphrase and HR#19 fame (via VH historian Caine Alder, who leaked the '57rec to RV)… I believe I uploaded his Carmen transcr back in around c. '02via old Makoto Natsui Japanese website, if any of you 88freekz recall that one. (#deepcutz #earlierinterwebsstylee). It quickly circled the globe and now every mofo and their lil sister has a Carmen in their YouTube encore arsenal. There are some fascinating programs in there. Petroushka, Prok Sonata no.3…Downes review of Barber etc etc. I even have some more, but this is at least half of the clippings given to me. Enjoy.
