Haha - again, I think it’s superb, but I believe I see what riles you with it. If Rosenthal is intimacy and Bolet nature, Hough is a pleasant day dream. But the ultra refined pianism - I can’t play the piano two bars in succession like that. Can only think of Grosvenor and Tyson today who could.

This is nice, and he highlights the inner voice I was talking about the way I think inner voices should be dealt with (prominent enough that you know they’re there but subtly and never drowning out the melody line). I think my problems are with the piece itself. There are many nocturnes I prefer, I wonder how this one ended up being so popular?
Yeah, in all honesty I feel the same. It’s very beautiful, but that’s also all it is. It’s not a very interesting piece compared to many of the other Nocturnes.
