Sorry I’ve been away for a while…shit hittin’ fan and dealing w/some heavy sheeyat. But ‘nuff o’ dat…
I have a local (Mexico City) broadcast live rec of Da DOC playing Brahms2. The only prob is that starting at a volume considered forte (worse w/piano or marcato from orch) the sound starts distorting. This was a problem at the source; nothing I could do about it, unfortunately.
I kept it because I had already digitized it. If there are DOC fans that want this anyway, I’d be happy to make the vids avail, but if ppl only want HQ audio or nothing, I won’t waste the time encoding/uploading. Let me know.
(P.S. My personal opinion is that the performance was uninspired, but not having heard DOC play this (have way too many B2’s as it is), I can’t tell if it wasn’t his best day or what. DOC fans would need to weigh in)
I have audio of DOC ROCK3 from a Jan 2004 performance in Tokyo w/Tokyo Phil. I don’t know if this came from a direct bootleg or a radio broadcast thereafter…I honestly don’t remember how I came about it, but it was w/in a year after the performance.
Is this a well-shared or should I include it w/the Brahms vids?
in my opinion, its not that it’s bad but that it’s boring. he doesn’t do anything we’ve not heard before. except perhaps, as i stated in another thread i think, the zippy bit after the 1st movt cadenza which is pretty cool…
i cannot let you know how thankful i am. I will let you know how “inspired” it is when ive finished watching. thanks again so much.
Yeah, ive not watched them all but i agree that it sounds pretty uninspired. he just seems to be playing for the sake of it. maybe he had a disagreement with the conductor. he seems to want to rush ahead all of the time…
the first movt. didnt work for me. is it me or does it not play in anything (vlc, media etc.) and it’s my favourite movt!
Thanks
