I just came across this, and I’m not sure if it’s old news, but if it’s true I really want to go! Would it even be realistically possible to get accepted to play for him?

that wud be legendary

Oh man it would make my life to get RIPPED WIT DA DOC…
where did u see this? he explicitly says he is not a teacher, and on the mannes website it just says that he’s doing a concert…
On the website it says he’s a distinguished artist, along with Pressler, Jerome Rose, etc…
ikif.org/startpage.aspx
But I know what you mean - Da Doc has always explicitely refused to teach, probably because he cant…
maybe he just doesn’t want to reveal the secret to his legendary tech
i don’t think he will be teaching there
but if he is, i think you would have a shot at it, though there are usually several pianists at that festival who play on your level
of course, if he does give a class you might be competing with me to play in the class…
and tru, it wud be wikid to smoke some meth with hamelin, an see how he plays then
maybe the cannabis would bring out some random m*sic from him
Actually I dont think i’ll go - my friend who lives in NYC says he’s been before, and it’s so disorganized, and theres barely any room to practise. Maybe I’ll just hunt down Da Doc, offer him some weed, and play his P&F for him…

SORRY if i scared you i+m_robot
i’ve been a few times, but just to attend concerts and stuff, so i wouldn’t know about the organization.
but true, there is nowhere to practice at mannes, unless you go to their practice center on 65th St. But I don’t even know if that still exists (I went there in 2001).
