I’m glad you segued into the Rockets. I’ve been listening to these a lot recently (lugansky and Ovchinnikov), this chick’s rockets are sheeyat. She has such a hollow sound and the interpretation is dreadful. Her head must be packed with sawdust. I haven’t heard Ash would you mind posting them? I like these much more than the preludes, I’m about to learn some probably 33/8 (C# minor), 39/1, 39/5, 39/6.
well i’m not too familiar with the rockets, so my opinion doesn’t really matter, but i liked the way she took a sort of rhapsodic approach to them… But then again, i haven’t heard many recs of there so… EDUCATE ME!!!
And i wasn’t sure if it was just the recording, but it did sound weak tonaly.
I will post Ashkenazys soon. Like many of his Decca recordings, its a shame about the piano sound, but his ideas and execution of the pieces more than make up for it imo
IMO iz freakin’ unbeatable in da rocketz.
tiz a shame he didn’t record da whole set
oh and Angelich’s set iz great too.
yeah Richter is gensui but he didn’t record a lot of my favourite ones. I have Angelich somewhere I think, will have to listen to it. He’s one of my fav young(ish) pianists.
Actually fo da complete zet bezidez da Lugy, i think da Og-Dong iz prob right up dere (da one chriz pozted b4) though he doez zome weird things here and there
I have one Ogdon on EMI but it’s probably an earlier one you’re talking about?

How disheartening to find that you’ve actually noted the playing times of different interpretations. As if speed is a worthy pursuit in serious music. If you were a muscian you wouldn’t do anything so crass.
oh noes, all links are cut off!

Me as well.
