i c da average sdc reader iz a bit illiterate in German
Tha bottom line iz dat da RUB played 7 concerts on 4 consecutive evenings, each concert lazting at leazt 4 hours. He played different works on each evening; together deze 7 concerts were a kind of “history of piano m*zic”. At one occasion he fainted during one of deze concertz
I wonder whether dere iz any peniszt alive today who could unleazh 30 hours of fury in one week
I think da RUB dezervez hiz own SDC icon fo diz!
btw, I iz talking about ANTON and not ARTHUR of courze…
Haha Da Hairy One…
He iz one wif Da Brotha
yea I read something like diz in schonbergz book. Hiz american recital schedule was just insane, something like 200 recitals in 200 days o sum sheeyat.
haha, I am just reading some more:
“as a first encore he played Chopin’s b-flat minor Sonata; as a second the seven pieces of Mendelssohn’s Characterstücke”.
since nobody iz interezted in diz topic I haf to keep diz thread alive myself.
If u want something done u do it yourself
haha well what to say? he wuz a mofo tru. and hiz work ethic wuz instilled in hofmann.
there’s so much things to be said about the RUB. he was insane, he started the Russian school of peniz, he instilled his legacy in the legions of Russian mofos, he was the Great-Godfather of all the Luganskys and Berezovskys, he mother-fucked his way through the hearts of every old and young.
so who’s gonna emulate his work ethic next? this generation?
I remembah Paderewski used practice da 88 18 hrs consecutively at one point in time. according to him, it was pozzibly one of da worst moment in hiz life. he didn’t even have time to eat breafast or take a nap and sometimes eating dinner on da 88 bench iz required. his tight schedule with many unlearned pieces forced him to practice like sheeyat. a bit insane!
No, it was John Field the Irish pianist who started the russian style of pianism. Seriously.
No.

Dat’s tru. But - from what I read - I also haf da impression dat da RUB wuz in a way a perfect INCARNATION of da SDC principles; not in da strict sense of zpeed but in da wider sense of furiouz committment to da 88.
Datz why I think he deservez an icon!
yeah I believe (but don’t remember) that he was the first to perform all of Beethoven’s sonatas in a series of concerts (in a week)
