HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
n sum info from mofoz in da know:
In the July/August 2005 issue of International Piano magazine there is an article where Berezovsky talks about this new CD. It will be a selection of Chopin original and Godowsky Transcriptions Etudes. They are recorded at Snapes Maltings, in Aldeburgh, UK “live” with an audience. He says he now has a good command of 14 of the Godowsky Etudes,so that would seem the largest number that could appear on the new CD.

I’m sure we’ll know soon enough, but for those who have access to the current (July/August) issue of International Piano, there is a back-page puff-piece by Berezovsky himself. He says he has managed to learn 14 Studies. (He does not describe how he selected those 14.) The CD will offer them alongside the equivalent Chopin Etudes. It seems that only recently, and quite by accident, he discovered these pieces, which he erroneously labels “transcriptions”. He perpetuates some additional factual errors: (1) the current single-volume edition of the Studies is not published by Dover, but by Carl Fischer. (2) Godowsky’s son-in-law David Saperton never recorded “all” the studies in the early 1940s, requiring “fifteen years of work”. He recorded ten over a two-day period in 1940, which were never released. (3) Saperton’s later recording of eleven studies dates from 1952, not “the 1960s”. To his credit, Berezovsky praises Marc-Andre Hamelin’s complete recording.
