Schubert sonata D. 959 A major? (pirate recordings included)
any info’s much appreciated!! ![]()
apparently not:
Sviatoslav Richter’s repertoire spanned the major works of the piano repertoire, although with many omissions (e.g., Bach’s Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), Beethoven’s Waldstein sonata and Fourth and Fifth piano concertos, Schubert’s A-major sonata D. 959).
but there is only one legit answer on diz zite ![]()
Dat’s wat I figured too, but I thought I’d still ask da mofos hia in case mofos know underground recs exist…
I’m curious why he left out da 959 out of the last 3… Has he talked about it, like saying he hated it or something?
Neither few pieces that I would really like to hear in his interpretation: Brahms 1st, Rach 3rd, Islamey, whole Gaspard (his Le gibet is incredible) etc.
I feel that Richter would have played some amazing Feinberg Sonatas. It wouldn’t surprise me if he actually knew Feinberg personally.
