I just received shipment of the THX AAA 789. I can honestly say in conjunction with the Topping DX7s used in DAC mode balanced end to end no better sound can be delivered to a headphone for the price. I’m using HD800s and am in the process of rediscovering my entire catalogue. FUCK !

Hopefully it won’t break for a couple of years. The 400i and Sundara might simply be the only two open-back mid-fi cans I’ve tried, but there’s something to the planar magnetic sound. Everything just sounds natural. I could hear every layer of sound in the Boulez & Berliner’s interp of Ravel’s Alborado del Gracioso. Sublime! My Meze 99 Klazziks sound muddy in comparison.
