HIgh Res Hororiwtz Scarlatti Sample - Now with exciting new poll!

There are some background noises which seem incredibly difficult to remove. Some show up in the higher parts of the spectrum as spikes or hazy type clouds and they normally respond well to repair or attenuate, and even the ones which are blobs within the main spectrum, but some are just stubborn to identify exactly where and what they are. Give my sheeyat internet 30 mins… :slightly_frowning_face:

No sweat!

It is mind boggling how much better this colombia lp sounds vs. his RCA stuff from a few years before.

Here is a short track with NOTHING done to it from the LP. It wonder what amazing sound the ho was really putting out during his RCA crap recording era.

I think your transfer sounded great tbh considering it’s from LP.

I forgot to crosscheck this against the original in order to ensure the aftermath of the noise reduction was in fact an improvment, doh. And by the time it occurred to me to do that check I’d already done several other fixes  so didn’t fancy a rollback, but anyway:

it looses some of the fullness and sparkle off the higher notes but sounds dramatically better on my regular stereo than the noiser version.

I could probably noise reduce it less aggressively, and I’ve also done it accross the full spectrum rather than specific frequency bands. Tbh the experimentation ultimately would be better done on something more advanced than the bog standard pc I’m using.

Dunno… I suppose certain ways of processing audio for certain applications and playback systems. With as much trouble as the recording business is in you’d think they’d offer releases for full rang equip, headphones, etc… makes big diff!

There are still some split notes because the transfer wasn’t perfect but I figured out how to denoise without losing tonality.

  1. Reverse Amplitude Denoise (because overtones on loud shits)
  2. Wild band stuff to taste – enough higher amplitude diff on the good stuff after above this dun damage so hard.
  3. Smoothing (didn’t do here but could get things a lot less grainy without going full pedo style like the sony.
