Iz it ok to practice sl*w ?

Only I-can-play-mazeppa-Lau 8)

How slw iz slw? Yo ppl who advokate da slw approach what do you suggezt? Can yo give any ruff guidlinez. Wot thingz have you had to work on in a slw tempo? For how long? When did yo know when to push da tempo?

the easiest thing is to use a [color=cyan]METRONOME. if u still get stuck while playing relatively slow, this gives u enough clue that you shudn’t speed up because rushing urself wont do u any good. When ur playing becomes smoother and ur fingers feel more comfortable with what you are working on, then you can speed up bit by bit but always put the metronome on because it’s highly essential. It takes time but it will definitely pay off the effort. on a sidenote, some ppl think using the metronome will make one’s playing sound mechanical/robotic. That’s just a fucked way of saying and it’s completely wrong. Again, use metronome until u master the piece in every detail and aspect. at that time, u dont need to play with the metronome on.

diz iz an intereztin dilemma. da zepp wud zay tiz ok to prax zl*w if tiz fo da purpoze of achievin max :stop: in actual playin.

juz lyk tiz ok to get a sex change, fo da purpoze of bonin a lezbian chick. howevah, tru mofoz wud ignore diz complicationz n juz rape 8)

Slow practice is a paradox. If you practice slowly, you learn faster, and end up playing faster.

Only idiots practice fast to start. Even zupah-genzui like Ogdon had to play slowly when they were learning to play pieces seriously.

Hahahhaha okay WHATTHAAFUK!!!

On topicz: hmm, i dun think it depends. if u are practicing runz, i dont think u shuld practice slow. that wuld be like walking to practice runnin, whn they r not hte same movement. Instead, you should practice one “bit” at a time.

In a scale fo example, take A Majah, you practice 1231 really fast, than 12341 really fast, then 1231, etc. Then u practice 12312341 reaaly fast, and so on, until you can do the entire double/tripple/sheeyat-scale run.

howevah, if you are practicin fingerin sheeyat, da zlow fo da sake of da FURY shuld be zeriously considered.

At leazt diz is what da teachah taught moi.

hahah
me alwayz ztartz fazt and den zl*wz down
da slowdown iz only necezzary to get thingz zmooth, tho
da trick iz to practice in zmall enuff zectionz
dat iz, me randomly agreez wif da above poztah
:stop:

sl*w practice is a paradox. If you practice slowly, you learn faster, and end up playing faster.

How so? If ah want to run, shud ah not practise runnin? Surely yo haff to push yoself wif regard to da physical side of thingz othawize der might be da danger dat yo just sit in a comfortable tempo for longer dan yo need?

da TRU prax way :

HAHAHAHAHAH PRECIZELY!! :lib:

haha…and if he practiced it seriously, he eventually would be able to do the whole piece at speed with accuracy. tiz tru. :open_mouth:

i think he said

“Fuck, i had it before” at some point of da vid.

indeed he did…
inspired me to learn that etude like that

also on slow practice, practicing slow is not playing the notes slowly, but doing the movement slowly, otherwise there’s no point.

expand on it…im confused

u must figure out da motion required to play AFAP and then slow THAT motion down to learn it prezisely, not juzt play da notes as u wud play dem at an eazy tempo.

mah-bad-self thinks da best way to go is alternate AFAP speed and maximal consciously and accurately playable speed. first observe what motionz fail in the desired tempo, then improve doze motionz in slo-mo, go bak to high-speed and try out the impovements, and iterate diz till u get there.

I never play fast
