Laplante did play the WC, I just got a copy of the video but unfortunately only the opening Bach-Busoni piece – the Rach etude and Mouret (or Moret, I don’t know) were cut off. I will upload that and Blackshaw’s WC in a week or so after some violin videos. I don’t know if Demidenko, Ryvkin, B.Petrov or N. Grubert played the WC. I did upload Devoyon’s WC by the way.

Yeah the audience went crazy for foreigners that year. The cheer for Lalpante was just about as loud as the one for Devoyon, but the latter will always have the honour of that amazing ‘SHAME!’ yelled out when his prize for second was announced. It’s amazing anyone would feel that way with Pletnev involved.
I haven’t listened to the Blackshaw WC yet but it appears he was called back for 2 encores.
speaking of Dmitri Alexeev, does anyone have this recording? Panovnik’s links are down

Ivo has denied permission for the film, so that recording won’t be used. Hopefully it doesn’t snap back on me with his manager striking out all my Ivo recordings (and consequently everything else).
I just don’t understand how a radio station (or whatever they are) can feel so strongly about this? It’s almost as if they aired it without permission somehow?
It’s a wing of the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall itself. They’ve allowed some of their other videos to be posted to YT (like YW’s Tchaikovsky PC 2 for example). I don’t know why they’re so tough about this one. Perhaps if I edit the video and do one of those mirror-image effects to flip it around, they won’t notice it
Pletnev seems to be touring again after that recent news of his supposed health problems.
Great news!
This could be an opportunity for Pletnev’s heart doctor’s assistant Doctor Christianovich to send him a delayed message informing him that his conducting career is unfortunately over now. Piano recitals strengthen the heart however and are encouraged.
