Bruising piano-playing, I suppose. He blows the piece
out of the water. But who among us can play that etude
at that pace with that kind of mechanical accuracy and
unadulterated power?
Speed is not the point of 10/4. Articulation is.
Even if it was a tad fast and tacky. (It was an encore.)
The entire recital is there on-line, and it is GROSS.

Argerich does, with way more shape, articulation, power, and
unabashed bravura.
This guy is obviously bent on outgunning Kissin and
Trpceski (or is it Trcepski?). No music at all.
He obviously heard ‘Martha’s’ Debut recital encore of this etude and
dared think, erroneously, “I can beat that”.

Gavrilov plays the same piece at the same speed (1:50 v 1:46) is more
articulate, more musical and doesn’t beat the shit out of the piano
like this turkey does! Cziffra likewise plays it in 1:47 but once
again the music is preserved. If this is your idea of great pianism,
fine, but I like at least a litle bit of subtlety with my music.
