The Oistrakh/Rostropvitch rec with Szell conducting is my fave
will give this a listen for sure though
Great playing- the Cleveland is a great one, but Rostropovich was apparently unhappy with Szell, finding him too aloof, despite the great knowledge and technique. Still plays wonderfully, but I find his heavy sound doesn’t mesh with Cleveland’s transparent sound. Perfection is hard to find, even with genius.
