It’s a great rec, but I have to confess that I don’t think anyone’s rec is nearly as good as Heifetz’s. He uses such a variety of tone, and it’s very emotional. I actually think people have unfairly given heifetz the reputation of being soul-less.
I agree - Heifetz is amazing, but his Bach just isn’t that great… for me anyway. Of course his playing is stunning, but it’s less about Bach and more about Heifetz.
I have to agree, Heifetz’s Bach isn’t too Bach… It’s like what Horowitz does with everything on piano.
