just woundering, whatz ur top 10 composahz?

mine (from a post at 4 other forumz):

this is difficult 4 me becuz i lyk and dislyk diff composahs 4 diff things. so im basing this mostly on whose style i lyk most

1 mozart: da clarity of his style is amazing; every note is important, even if his harmonies are old hat now, da clarity is just crazy; plus mozart had an amazing sense of melody/rhythm
2 bach: also da clarity, but i put him behind mozart (even tho his music is more complex) because i generally prefer homophonic music 2 da polyphonic type
3 beethoven: again, da clarity, altho da beet is a little more vague than da mozart; da beet’s melodies r often more original dan da zart’s tho, i prefer da zart rhythmically, tho
4 chaikovsky: yet again clarity, da chaik had a fantastic sense of melody and his music is extremely clear (its no surprise he idolized mozart above all others)
5 chopin: da chop sounds free w/o throwing in much superfluous crap (altho he does do that), plus great sense of melody
6 prokofiev: to me, basically da equivalent of chop w/ a more modern sense of melody and harmony; i lyk da prok’s melody/harmony more dan othas of the early 20th century (lyk bartok)
7 liszt: extremely superfluous and vague as balls, which i dislike, but i cant deny dat many of his works have amazing melodies and great emotional power; i jus lyk 2 listen 2 da pimp, even if my approach 2 composition is completely diff
8 rachmaninoff: not quite as superfluous as da pimp, but still up there; da only reason he is behind da pimp is becuz while he has many fantastic works, i jus flat out think da pimp has more; plus, his stuff sounds more samey than da pimp’s stuff imo
9 schubert: even tho i lyk da schub’s clarity (moreso than chop), hes so low becuz he jus didnt compose as many great pieces (altho many are great); da style is great, but da other composahs jus did bettah imo
10 ligeti: mah fav modern composah (even tho he jus died RIP), his music is actually modern and listenable 2 me; its not complex 2 da point of losing its appeal at surface value[/b]

First one is Charles-Valentin Alkan, a great but neglected piano composer from the romantic period. The second one is Marc-Andre Hamelin, awesome pianist who plays neglected repertoire and he has composed some shit. Third one is Rachmaninoff, obviously, the fourth one is da comme, founder of this site. He plays the piano like shit :comme: .
