which scarbo rec (or playin in general) iz ur fave?

randomly myn iz da Mickey…a bit unfair tho, his clarity and EVERY CLEAR NOTE makes it harzh to appreciate to many others…

da orgy, sgouros, n ashkenazy r randomly pretty mofo too…

Francois.

Agreed. Not only his Scarbo, but I love his whole Gaspard set more than any other pianist’s recording.

Achuccaro

even though it’s slow
but it’z def one of da mozt beautiful scarbo i have ever heard

i still like da gav’s best (studio).

hmm…apart from those aforementioned…i would suggest babayan…very demonic :stop: :stop:

haven’t heard an ideal scarbo yet, nor complete gaspard.

pogo from that cd wiz chozon2 n prokzon6

alzo tha live radiorape broadcazt tha chriz poztd zum yearz ago. pozzibly lazt yr.

but daim i haff nevah heard ztudio gav :gav: :gav: :gav: :gav:

I like Francois, Casadesus, early Gieseking, Achucarro, de Larrocha, Fiorentino, Nojima and Abbey Simon. The Babayan rec which Brendan posted a while back is insane too.

Of the recent Ravel sets, I like Alexandre Tharaud quite a bit. His Gaspard is very nice.

would anybody mind posting the francois? seems to be quite popular

Would you mind posting Fiorentino? I haven’t heard it.

i will do it

it’s the 1962-1987 unreleased disc

thanks, look forward to hearing it

i second this, but i have to say michelangeli for utter clarity and pogorelich for fucked up speed (although his interp leaves much to be desired)

yeah they’re nice. I relistened to Babayan, and it’s very good. Fiorentino too. But still none ideal.

gracias animal

I should also randomly mention Freire, Arrau, Lortie and Ogdon… all good recs.

Also :wood:'s Ondine is just sick.

Wunder’s Scarbo has some hardcore pianism in it.
