The liszt concerti are pretty much perfect recordings.

My absolute favorite Richter-performed pieces

In no particular order:

Prokofiev Sonatas 2, 6, 8, VFs
Schubert Sonata Ds 566, 664, 894, 958, Wanderer, Impromptus
Rachmaninoff Preludes, Etudes
Tchaikovsky Concerto
Rachmaninoff Concerto 2
Schumann Toccata, Fantasy
Franck PCF
Chopin Ballades 3, 4, Barcarolle, Scherzo 4, Etudes
Ravel Jeux D’Eau, Cloches

Damn, now that I think of it … I can go on and on here.

Way more to list, but too tired. hahaha

Sorry, I forgot to unban you. Will do that in a bit.

There are at least 100 pieces which I believe Richter played as well as anyone.

Here are bunch that I feel he dominated in a way that few did.

Schubert Sonata D960, D958, Wanderer Fantasy
Bach WTC, Concerto 5
Liszt Concertos, Etudes
Schumann Fantasy, Faschingshwank, Toccata
Franck Prelude, Choral and Fugue, Violin Sonata
Dvorak Concerto, Quintets
Prokofiev Concerto 1 & 5, Sonatas 2, 4, 6-8
Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition
Beethoven Op. 109-111, Concerto 1
Chopin Ballade 2, 3, 4, Polonaise Fantasy, Barcarolle
Rachmaninoff Concertos 1 & 2, Etudes
Saint-Saens Concerto 5
Brahms Concerto 2, Sonatas 1 & 2

Im probably forgetting a bunch, but its a start anyway.

Good list.

It’s strange… Richter remains one of my very favourite pianists, but I wonder if I will ever really be accustomed to the intensity of his playing.

Perhaps that’s as it should be. :rectum:

the 1st piece comes up into my mind

Schubert Wanderer Fantasy

:rectum: 1st concerto :pimp:

chop ballad2.

When I think Richter and how good he is, I instantly think of that.

more please! im kinda treating this as a list of recommendations and i’ll go hunt for those i havent heard before.

(eg the WTC and the franck)

I have every Richter CD. Let me know what you’re yearning to hear and I’ll post it. (Within reason - don’t give me a list of 50 recs  )

Please UL the Brahms 2 rec that was just TOTAL FURY. So awesome.

Scriabin 6th sonata, hands down for me.

Tru, that’s one instance where nobody else has even come close to matching his rec.

Pictures At An Exhibition
Brahms 2nd Piano Concerto
All the Prokofiev sonatas he recorded. (Especially 2, 6 and 7)
…ahh so many…
