Word on street Horowitz a big fan of ebony instruments.
They sure didn’t mince words back in da day! Even Chopin hizzelf wasn’t safe from da fury of da critics.
Didn’t read the whole shiatsu, but they sure gave a lot of space for da Ho’s rectal debut review!
wuz tha
playin on hiz own 88 in 1928 i wundah ![]()
Nope. He only got that 88 as a wedding gift in 1934 and gradually it got customized
That piano really got pimped and carted around with him after he came back from retirement in 1939.
His iconic pre-1940 recs all on a random standard piano.
It maybe not true but I heard all those legendary abbey road recs pretty much on the same piano across many greats. They all sound diff on it tho.
Many of them were on the same Steinway D, yes!

– Three-part program? This was Horowitz’s last Carnegie Hall recital in five years. Winthrop Sargeant, of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, meant that “Vladimir Horowitz was not at his best at his recital Saturday afternoon in Carnegie Hall. The meticulousness that he exhibited at his earlier Brooklyn appearance was often lacking. Smudged pedaling and a lack of clarity and evenness in rapid passage work were frequent – matters that were somewhat surprising in the playing of one who is generally regarded as one of the most brilliant of contemporary pianists. Being primarily an artist of the scintillating rather than of the profoundly penetrating type, his performance suffered more from these occasional blemishes than it otherwise would have done, and, since his program offered little of overwhelming intrinsic musical importance, the concert as a whole was not an occasion to shout about. Such criticism is made with the realization that Mr. Horowitz is undeniably a first rate pianist and should be judged by the very highest standards of performance.”
whoa what a fag
How stupid not to record mazeppa and FF.
yeah the recording activity after 1932 was scandalous
feux follets was in his rep from 1939 - 1941 and no solo studio sessions were done, only multiple recs of Brahms 2 (juz why)
Horowitz did not like da concerto after having to do it with Toscanini
If you concerto have french horn probably boring. #science
yeah one of the most wildly popular pianist of all time insanely poorly documented 1928-1944
