This her Italian Concerto. She took large risks and play at edge of her ability most of recital instead of pulling an Andsnes practice run through performance where everybody looked at their watch. Will see her again.
dis sum gud bach playin. so nice to hear a peniz make sense of da voicing without jizzing all over it like da SNOWMAN does. i’ve always like avdeeva, pleased to see she’s still got it.
Tit recs pretty common and it sounds ok but main benefit is it was way easier to sneak in and setup than turban or lapdance style bootlegs.
It doesn’t come through in this rec but she sounded insanely three diminsional. The phrasing was all leading or ebbing from something dynamic and they were real dynamics. One of those pianists where you feel like you watching a sound sculpture.
She was comfortable playing across the full dyanmic range of the piano too instead of playing eveyrthing shades of mezzo forte and arm dropping a chord now and then to break up monotony in the common pussified style you hear so often.
What I liked best is she pushed herself to project to the point where there were smudges instead of draw everything back to comfort level and do a bullshit andsnes rectial.
Maybe a quarter of the recitals I been to were worth going to in hindsight. Can’t say it’s better or worse than it ever was but yeah, I gotta think twice even for big names because few seem to be able to hold a solo concert together. I’m usually fully wasting money going to these things.
