Has anyone watched a video performance of Rubinstein playing the Schumann Phantasiestucke Op.12? I forgot the name of the video, but in it he played a Chopin Polonaise and the spinning song by Mendelssohn, and some others. I still remember the “Aufschwung” that he played was different from the written score! Did he skip it entirely, or there’re two versions of “Aufschwung”?? I watched that video ages ago so I can’t quite remember.
By the way, do you guys know if any pianist has ever played selections from the Phantasiestucke in public, instead of playing the complete set?
