I actually bought this set, back in the day. Ended up donating it to my school library. Pretty weak set overall.
For complete Beethoven Symphony sets in good sound, I recommend either Dohnanyi, Wand, Szell, Gardiner, Bohm, Harnoncourt or Blomstedt’s super cheap version on Brilliant Classics. And if sound is not important to you, Furtwangler and Toscanini are the way to go.
I own this set too but haven’t listened much. How is the Szell recording? That’s something I’d really be interested in hearing

Agree. David Zinman’s set and Abbado’s later set are also worth recommending.

Oh, there’s also an overlooked excellent set by Rene Leibowitz/Royal Philharmonic Orch.
Yeah, personally I don’t get anything from Karajan’s Beethoven. I think if he weren’t on DG he would have been forgotten by now.
