Since it’s Beethoven year, I would like to read some really great books about Beethoven. Which one you would recommend?

The classic is Thayer’s 3 volume tome, but it was written by a Harvard mofo from 200 years ago so it’s sure to be both adjusted and unreadable.
I’d love to interview someone who has read Solomon’s or Swafford’s bios.

This one’s nearly 100 years old, but I think it’s one of the best books about music I’ve read:
Beethoven: His Spiritual Development, J.W.N. Sullivan
(other than the Kissin autobio obvs)
