Best recording of Medtner Night Wind Sonata

The only Nightwind you need is Berezovsky, Amsterdam 2004, I’ll post it when I get home unless someone beats me to it.

I like some of his smaller scale works, somewhat, but yes… they all turn into rambling improv messes.

Not a fan.

Do you think there’s a chance of Sokolov ever playing Medtner?

Berezovsky 2004 is my favourite. I also have a great Berezovsky rec from 1999, but the sound isn’t as nice.

I also really like Eckardstein’s various live recs, Favorin, and Ponochevny.

Medtner is probably my favourite Russian composer.

Berezovsky - Amsterdam 2004

This recording and Debargue’s Op 5 from the Tchaikovsky competition are probably my favourite Medtner performances.

Berezovsky’s early Sonata tragica is a great rec too.

I’ve never managed to warm up to any of Medtner’s sonatas actually - I just refreshed my memory of the Night Wind here a little but my take on it is akin to trumofo’s rambling mess there. But I like many of the shorter pieces Medtner’s written, and there I think Berezovsky has done wonders too. Likewise with Hamelin.

BTW, I haven’t downloaded this, but judging by the filesize am I right in guessing A’dam above is a Mp3? U want a FLAC?
