I listened to dat Fumagalli yeztahday (the uploader doesn’t specify, but I’m fairly sure it is Adolfo - there were several peniztz in the family), and I don’t think it’s as good as some of his other parasheeyatz.

He was a lh only specialist mofo, eg

There are quite a few mofoz who would fit into this compozah grouping, but they are almost totally unrecorded, eg Emile Prudent (you can find recs on da tube in this case), Dohler, Pixis, even the infamous Sydney Smith and his various pseudonyms, who probably wrote more paraphrase / fantasy type pieces than even :pimp:

There are loads and loads of unrecorded Jaell fantasies as well :wink: also Raff, I’m probably forgetting some others which I’ve flicked through.

Herz and Kullak are worth exploring here too. I regret that I can’t find the full Kullak op 6 and op 9 sets of transcriptions, because they ones I’ve seen are pretty nicely done. Under better circumstances I’d do something about recording his Casta diva, I’ve played it and it’s written in a very Thalbergian style, which is kind of ironic when you consider Thalberg was so restrained in his setting. It’s difficult but would be effective… one of those pieces where you realise the composer was a real mofo simply from the writing.

I sort of feel that the ante in these pieces really got upped after Thalberg found his arpz trickz. It just gives so much more variety in sonority, before that everyone, including :pimp: really wasn’t doing much more than chucking in lots of bravura chordal and octave passages and thirds.
