Well, he was excellent of course, itās just this super-god of tech I think is exaggerated. His Schumann Toccata really isnāt that special. I think Friedman or Hofmann for instance were much more deserving of their reputation as wizards.

I was thinking about this Lhevinne and Hofmann even resorting to slightly mechanical playing for effect. Before everybody got used to that shit on spliced up recordings it must have been insane to hear and witness and would have had an extra musical effect we canāt probably appreciate now.

Dizagree with da X-mofo. His touch, phrasing, dynamic cuntrasts, rhythm, all wonderful. And for me one of few recs where da piece makes musical sense.
