His did play da Pimpzon, all of op 25 Chop, da Pimp Feux, da Izlamic Oriental Harem Rapist/Sucide Bombah, n wuz famous fo his Brahms Paganini unleashes.

Well, he was excellent of course, it’s just this super-god of tech I think is exaggerated. His Schumann Toccata really isn’t that special. I think Friedman or Hofmann for instance were much more deserving of their reputation as wizards.

That Schumann tocc isn’t my cup of tea… perhaps we need more evidence, he left very few recs…

I was thinking about this Lhevinne and Hofmann even resorting to slightly mechanical playing for effect. Before everybody got used to that shit on spliced up recordings it must have been insane to hear and witness and would have had an extra musical effect we can’t probably appreciate now.

Dizagree with da X-mofo. His touch, phrasing, dynamic cuntrasts, rhythm, all wonderful. And for me one of few recs where da piece makes musical sense.
