Wiz diz bein da year ov BEETHOVEN I haf zeen many cumplete zheeyatz
but perhapz mo intereztin wud be to programme a recital dat reprezentz da whole evolution ov a compoza
includin early workz, mid workz, late workz etc.
Da zame cud be zaid fo n ov courze da
ALZO wut about da idea ov evolution ov a form - a recital dedicated to ZONATAZ wiz 1 baroque, 1 early clazz, 1 late clazz, 1 early romantic, 1 late romantic, 1 20th cuntury etc.
or a rectal dedickated to da evolution ov da ETUDE
Zince zum mofoz haf been cumplainin about da lack ov dizcuzzion around here I thought I wud create diz topic
I think that all one composer recitals are kind of boring. I do think an all Scriabin recital would be pretty interesting. A set of preludes from op. 11, Fantasy, Poeme satanique, 5th or 4th sonata, Op. 65 etudes, and the 10th sonata maybe? That way there’s some variety in the form.
I like what Grimaud has done with her last few releases. Having a unifying concept is a good way to get people to hear some pieces that they haven’t heard before.
i like the somewhat recent (at least on big name labels) trend of ‘nesting’ pieces in recitals or discs, like the Víkingur Ólafsson mix of Debussy and Rameau, and the Yuja shuffling of Chopin and Scriabin (both perfect pairings really)
I like some of da Ho’s programs, where he will start with a greatest hit.
For example, opening with da Schu Arabesque before da 3rd Zonata.
It’s kinda like a rock band opening with a greatist hit to warm up da crowd
