Hell no. I’m at least open to seeing Katsaris in the right repertoire. There is no right repertoire when Barenboim is at the piano.
They’re a bit of “theme” programs, aren’t they? Beethoven’s last three, Schubert’s last three, all P&Fs in a DWK book, etc. It’s more about the thing than delivering a carefully thought through program.
I think it’s too much of the same, but that said I did enjoy the one 958-960 recital I’ve attended.
Haha Barenboim actually did a good 958 here a few years ago! Good Chopin Nocturne as encore too. Agreed in general though, he did surpass himself.

My experience with the “trilogy” was enough for me to never wanna attend another recital by that pianist again. I think I’d attend it only if David Fray or YW played it. Even then I’d be a lot more interested hearing the first two sonatas than D.960.

Notwithstanding tonality, I would create my own arrangement of “late” Schubert consisting of:
movement 1 from 958,
movement 2 from 959,
movement 3 from 894,
movement 4 from 960.

Richter, definitely. For Busoni he’d have to not change any sheeyat. Although, if you’re going invoke Busoni, why not Liszt or Rubinstein? Bulow did the first complete cycle so let’s throw him in the mix, while we’re at it.
Actually, Feinberg is my favorite op 109.

Yes… hearing his 109 was a fuckin revelation.
According to his brother, da GUDBURGAH had all the Brotha sons ready fo concert perf at any fuckin time.
It could be true, but Feinberg himself said that he forgot sheeyat very easily (but also memorised quickly). I was similar, can learn quickly but rep falls out of my fingers quickly.
Harshly I learn slowly and forget quickly
What saves the situation is that what I have once learned, I can normally summon back again very quickly.
If I ever play the piano again, we’ll see how quickly things come back.
