Here’s Perahia in Meph 1.
Not too shabby.
Wimpy ol’ Perahia in Rach 39/6. Damn, those wimpy, yet thunderous, left hand octs at 1:38.
Btw is crazy how high da Slit set the bar
She matches the spirit of Rach’s own rec imo
Da slit also not given enough credit for her tonal control imo.
Tru, dat a clazzik zlit
Yes, those are his best recordings but IMO not competitive with the best, and after Horowitz talked Perahia into playing Liszt and Rachmaninoff live, Perahia hurt himself and couldn’t play piano for 5 years.
Well, opinions are like…you know what. Everyone has one. Time is the greatest judge of all. It seems Perahia’s status is clear. Whether Debargue’s name will be remembered within the next 5 to 10 years is debatable…at best.
Also, his Chopet’s recording was made after the the time spent away to recover from injuries. And what does Debargue play that compete’s with the best? Just don’t say Gaspard de la Nuit…because I’ll have a laughing fit.
The periahia not my style but his hammcleavage has balls and chopets have fewer weak spots than most full sets troo
I don’t really care for Debargue at all, I was simply praising him for playing Alkan and Medtner.
Yes, has he played these pieces complete in concert or just in the studio?
His live perfs were way better which was a shocker to me. I like both these peniz
Clean as f for this twisty nugget
tru. wish i cud play it lyk dat.
he’s not as bad as i usually pretend fo sho
To me, when I think of smooth playing, I think of someone like Perahia, as opposed to Pollini who gets that moniker.
I think Volodos
Well, he’s in a class of his own.
And
da Rach is smooth but is not afraid of using percussion effectively when needed. But da Volodos forte never sound “biting”, def a big granite block sound world
Still waiting for a definitive recording of Le Preux and Comme le vent.
Da SDC welcome bot is woke. It didn’t assume dat da piano virgin is a mofo or mofette and went with the appropriate gender neutral “them.”
HAHAH
