Hi, what is the story on this artist. He seems really impressive.
All I can say is … wow. Never heard anything like it.

Alexei Grynyuk is also amazing:
Such great trills. Almost as good as the ones Pletnev pulled off in the Scarlatti he played live at Carnegie hall.
Some jazzy Denis Matsuev =)
God, everything he plays is so brutal!!! But I love it lol
Listening to Matsuev on a live Israeli PO stream, playing Beethoven PC 3. As Simon said above, this guy never developed a subtle touch AFAICT.
Yeah, I can definitely only tolerate him in a particular type of music. He’s like a less subtle and less interesting version Weissenberg.
I like Matsuev’s insane & boyish level of enthusiasm. Guy always seems ready to have fun. Just at the piano he’s so often brutal as Simon said.
Some people have never forgiven Matsuev for winning the '98 Tchaikovsky Competition over Freddy Kempf. I thought Kempf should have won and the fix was probably in for Matsuev, but it’s not his fault. For what he is, he is excellent.
In any case, he has a much better career than Kempf.
ahahahaha da MENACE
pozz da only livin penizt capable of a handlin
a UFC career
Da menace maintain a rep of like 14 concs with orchestra every season.
That’s why his solo programs now tend to be cold-unleash old rep, barely reviewed.
I’ve heard him in Carnegie, solo, on 2 occasions - full of mini fakerudy’s, overpedalled zheeyat n genzui impros n recoveries.
Hiz conc rep tends to be rock solid
I remember a great Rach 2nd Sonata dat I heard live in Carnegie, n hiz massive projectin tone filled up da hall n up to ma $15 cheap joo seats like a real mofo!
ahahahahah da MENACE bazically haff da bezt mental approach fo conc perf, in dat
