Despite my best efforts and stretching, I still can’t get 5 to move without 4 joining him a little. I can move 4 without movement from 5, but not the other way around. Also, 5 almost never stays curved. Has anyone else had this problem? If you did, how did you fix it? Exercises, stretches…what?
I believe that Schumann had a good trick for this
didn’t he permanently damage his hand in an attempt to cut the tendon or something lol
Maybe I am wrong, but isn’t it impossible to move the these two fingers independently.
I asked my parents (who are both doctors) and they told me it is impossible from a medical point of view.
Practice dude. It takes hundreds of hours of hanon etc to achieve good finger independence. I can do pretty sweet 4-5 trills and such, but it took years to get that level of comfort with those fingers. It’s not something that will happen for you overnight.
dont play with your fingers, play with your MIND and BODY
everything you’d normally play with 5, play with your cock from now on
That would only be good for clusters
Well, I’ve seen some people do it without any problems, but me, it just doesn’t work that way. I’ve worked on doing trills and such, but I feel as if I’m babying it (using my wrist) rather than just using the fingers power.
da rach woke up every morning like at 6 to do sum hanon sheeyat… da pozz spent hours a day in his chilhood doin thirds with Dohnanyi. practice mofo…
tru, practice.
i have an anatomic abnormality and all my fingers are seperate from each other, which makes me a lucky fuck.
45 Trills are a pain in the ass…especially in the left hand, in the right hand I managed to get a result at least that sounds fast enough to be considered a trill.
Started of to practise pralltrillers (mordents) with 3 notes, then 4, then 5, …
Ehhhh wow. That’s really really really lucky.
I’ve got the same problem but my fingers are sort of independent enough to do decent 4-5 trills; I don’t know anyone who can move 4 without moving 5.
Actually the 4th finger depends more on the 3rd than on the 5th. E.g. it’s harder to lift up the 4th when the 5th is in a fist than when the 3rd is in a fist…
I have a feeling you just contradicted yourself, but please explain if you didn’t.
I’m not a doctor, but iirc the sinews of the 3rd and 4th finger are somewhat crossed which makes the 4th finger usually the weakest.
About my last post:
Make a fist, but leave the 3rd and 4th finger outside, and try to lift up the 4th finger. It works…
Try the same with the 4th and 5th finger left outside and it’s a lot harder to lift up the 4th finger due to the dependency on the 3rd finger (which is in the fist).
At least it’s like that in my hand structure =)
scales, arps and exercises have helped for me. I do an hour of those a day. Also it goes without saying that you should avoid tension. Keep the arm, shoulders, upper back nice and relaxed.
soak your 5th fingers in the breast milk of a nairobian princess and they will improve, i promise
I can find some of that on ebay, right?
