finally get to see diz legend live. wil bootleg it. just got da tickets, not da best seats but i wudnt be able to afford mo even if better ones were available. a recital i really want to see too, tru.
Well, in the merry old land of oz we dont get to see ANYONE. Hough is coming, but that’s it. And he’s hardly as worthwhile as seeing Friere, you lucky git.
You ain’t kidding! apaprently we used to get everyone in the 60’s but now they can fly for a coupla hours across the northen hemisphere and get the same amount of money so why bother sitting on a plane for 26 hours!
At least they’ve started an international concert series here, we got Piers Lane, Boris Berman, Demidenko, Hamelin so something’s happening.
It’s only in Adelaide afaik (surprisingy as we usually get diddly-squat!). Melbourne and Sydney get a lot more visiting artists anywayz.
I meant that in past terms, as in they’ve been. Hamelin did Brahms 2 with ASO and a recital of op.111, Haydn fmaj, Alkan Symphony.
It’s called the ABN AMRO Morgans International Piano Series` I can’t find a website though.
well the only one I really want to see is da doc. But even then couldn’t go all the way to SA just for one concert. Randomly have never even been that far west. Hopefully he will play Syd.
Hough is weak compared to Freire - trust me… Freire absolutely owns everything on that program. His Les Adieux is stunning and his Schumann is the best I’ve heard of any living pianist.
