Truuuu
25/6 was probably an hour’s work for the young Gilels.
For what it’s worth I’m still having a ball with the Melodiya box you reuploaded for me leechermofo. Gilels doesn’t come easily for me, but when he’s good, he’s DAMN good, and there’s been a lot of that in this set. My latest discovery is the 1963-02-15 recital, and I’m amazed by the new repertoire which has come to light here. I can almost forgive them for letting Op.25#6 slip when things like his Harmonies du Soir is in here!
I wish the documentation on that set was a little better though.
Many of the discs just have a vague range of several years, rather than specific dates and locations for individual tracks.
I’ve figured it all out, in case of interest.
Well, I haven’t written documentation especially for this, but I have finished typing it in to my list.
Tru!
I’d love to hear his 30’s unleash of the Brahms Paganini Book 2!
I’m interested in the date for the harmonies du soir that’s included in the set.
According to the concertography (is that even a word?) that TM posted he played it three times, I’m guessing it’s the 1952 Moscow performance that was recorded but can’t be sure.
