Virtuoso Romantic – A new film featuring the remarkable pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin.
Embracing the great Composer Pianists from the Golden Age, among them Ferrucio Busoni, Leopold Godowsky and Charles-Valentin Alkan, this film will explore their legacy and the connections with contemporary virtuoso composer pianists such as American Fred Rzewski and the Russian Nikolai Kapustin.
Initial filming has already taken place with Hamelin’s readings of works by Medtner, Alkan and Godowsky - as well as the pianist’s own compositions.
