hahaha da whale jazz

not until we see :doc: improvisin’ jazz, or playing with a trio.

now you mention it, i dont know of him playing any ensembles…

Brahms Horn trio, Beethoven and Antheil Violin Sonatas, and Rach suite no. 2 and Brahms op. 34 for 2 piano’s.

yes, those are his live stuff. and there’s the brahms quartets, which I think are fantastic performances, and schumann/faure/dvorak chamber music to be recorded (dvorak/faure already released on DVD). Then there’s the cds he’s done with singers, and a few other bits and pieces… plenty!

back to da whale, its a sad thing his documentary’s so short compared to the doc’s.

anyway, i’ll go find doc nonsolo stuff tomorrow when i visit the library.

i thought all the docs were 30mins +60min interview + and bonus material…
anyway, volodos and aimard are next in the “World of Piano” series… can’t wait for them… as long as aimard’s recital isn’t bach’s art of fugue.
That’s one piece which I struggle with. I can just about manage a few of them played on organ, but it’s too difficult on piano!

nice :gav:

maybe aimard’s will be the ligeti etudes. would like to see them then…

(offtopic)
does anyone want that strange rec of ligeti etudes interspersed with Reich and random African music? i have it, maybe shall upload. got a bunch of nice stuff recently.

not only that, but i dont think aimard’s art of fugue is anything special, really. once you have koroliov, you dont need anyone else, anyways. but im still looking forward to the aimard. hes surely gonna have some insane program like what hes known for, and not the damned art of fugue.

So many of Aimard’s performances are dull. He should not go anywhere near BWV1080.

he already did, and he has performed it many places quite a few times. its not a piece thats suited to him really, and his performances of it are very dull, and far from perfect, so ive heard, with many mistakes also. it makes you wonder how someone could play ligeti and messiaen so well and not be able to do bach as well.

vote: volodos - turkish march: yes or no?

hopefully not. ive gotten sick of that piece and cant stand to hear it again, but thats just my personal opinion.

then again, its likely that they’ll put it in because …its the thing he’s best known for. (perhaps?)

what would you like to hear from volodos anyway? I personally dont mind his scrib fantasie - any particular wishes?

the turkish march iz ghey. I was listening to his liszt cd and daim the end of vallee dob (I dunno iz dat wuz him or HO tranz) not my cup of sheeyat. He should avoid tranz except for the rach cello son.

i think the rec of his moszkowski etude 6 (the ho staple) was the one he played in singapore in 2004 - my bootleg is exactly the same :astonished:

but why is it zl*w?

volodick - feinberg-tchai zcherzo getz my vote :wood: :wood: :wood:

The shit he did to Vallee is his own transcription, and it’s the worst I’ve ever heard. he should just steer away from transcribing and stick to showmanship. It’s amusing to watch now and then.

seconded. i really love that piece. even though he is really showy in that one too, it works out a lot better than with some of the other pieces he plays.

i am okay with his schubert/liszt lieder.

but the ziff bee… :stop:
