How does counting work?

I never really learned to count right and got some guidance from a friend. Playing rhythmic finger things in book one Liszt technical exercised for first time and was sort of ok until this fucked my brain… does anybody have any lit recommendations on how to count, including this noodle in 3/4?

edit: I’m an idiot and didn’t see it shifted to common time. But questions still stands on recommended lit for learning this skill.

Since I can’t think of textbooks outside of the ones used in “musicianship” class, I would first suggest that you practice rhythms by tapping them out with your hands rather than trying to do it by finger coordination because they’re two different issues when you break it down. If you did that already, I’m sure other mofos here have better ideas!
