By the way, holy shit, I can’t believe that I have been scouring the internet off and on for more than a year since finding the Camp/Rach 78, and concluded that Klein must have made only this record…
But then today I find THIS - which was sold to somebody in 2019 by auction… so there’s hope at more Klein coming to light!

Yes, I’m sure you’re right. The real tragedy of it all is that we made the transfer at my friend’s home and I had to fly back to where I live. I packed the 78 as carefully as I could but it cracked on the plane, probably somebody threw or put something heavy on my bag and it bent. Now it’s unplayable. Due to the sentimental significance of the rec for me I almost cried when I opened up my bag… So tragically we’re at the mercy of this inferior transfer.

Yeah can you imagine if I hadn’t made the transfer before getting on the plane? Not only the emotional hit to my teacher and I, but the world would never know about this lost legend…

Needless to say, I hope if any of you legends do accidentally come across a rare Klein 78 on ebay or somewhere else, that you’ll let me know, or sell it to me after you buy it and make a transfer. Would be happy to pay what you paid (or more for your trouble) just for my old teacher and I to have it

auction descrip says the other size of the de Falla is Liszt/Busoni Campy… does it make sense there’d be a completely different record with the same b-side? Or maybe he recorded it twice?

Yeah I noticed that… well the same brass stamper probably got used for that although there is a small chance it’s an alternate take of the campy
Who was your teacher? I was a student of Mr. karol Klein in Tel Aviv Academy. He used to perform on radio about once a year. I guess his programs are there in the archive of the radio, which is called “Kol Israel”.
