A real rarity- Carlos Kleiber conducting Strauss in concert in good sound. The performance is one of his greatest, and he never made a commercial recording of it.

Did you know that an EMI session with Carlos Kleiber was in fact set up to record this-- he arrived, then before he picked up the baton, he said, oh I’m not good enough, then packed his bags and left!!
Yet, listening to the recording, he clearly was more than anyone.
