I’ve just found out this amazing young violinist! I watched few performances on youtube (esp. furious playing of most difficult violin pieces like Ernst’s arr. of Erlkonig or Last rose) and his playing is really fantastic - perfect technique, clean and beautiful sound, hart and musicality - everything is here! So, I’m curious - does anyone have any CD of him? I’m really interested in this CD, where he plays with another amazing artist - Severin von Eckardstein

Not really, IMO. I just listened Hilary in Zagreb - she played Tchaikovsky concerto and Erlkonig as an encore. She is fantastic violinist, but not musician. She has superb technique, excellent sound but she doesn’t have a lot of colors in shaping of sound, feeling for phrase and she cannot touch you at all. Erlkonig was super technically, but again there was no music - it’s one of the most dramatic songs in whole history (and my favorite Goethe song) so I hopped to hear drama and intense, but she played it like an difficult etude, without too much emotions…

No offense to violinists or anything…but Erlkonig (or at least Hilary Hahn’s) sounds SOOO boring on violin compared to Hofmann, Richter (solo piano) or Moore-Fischer-Dieskau
