Hehe pozz. I haven’t listened to GS’s Op.25 in a long time, except #12 he used to encore. I remember them as good but a little neat. Rubinstein holds court in the 5th Etude - lovely, and despite all fuzz he made about these studies the ones he did play I think he did really well.

Tiempo’s playing is very “cocky”. I can see how it turns off people born <1960 (not including the pianopear AFAIK) used to the silky smooth presentation style of the time, or people looking for refinement, sensitivity, or class & style in Chopin. If you don’t mind his pure rape zepp approach however it’s stunning playing. Temperament and tech keeps reminding me of Friedman, and even at this tempo he’s like a fish in water with the music. There’s play & rhythmical cues everywhere. It’s like he thinks -> the piano does.
Hehe yeah, reminds me of Friedman, I meant he reminds me of da zepp. 
I’ve probably mentioned this already, but there’s a Tchaikovsky concerto he did 5-6 years earlier which is hilarious as well. He zepps his way through the whole thing, and commands the orchestra more than the conductor since he sets everything up for them so evidently. It’s a joy to hear - but a complete rape of the work!
