My new piano?

Sorry folks - posted this in the wrong forum…

Evening all,

I’m thinking very seriously about one of these:
steinway.co.uk/essex/about.shtml

The upright ‘Classic Studio’ model. Does anyone have any opinions, or comments? I played the one in the showroom for an hour or so this afternoon and rather fell in love. It’s at the top end of my price range…

AHAHA
i havent check about it yet
is it Essex made by S&S or the S&S itself?
but if you gonna buy the upright i would take a look on grand from japan (kawai, yamaha) duh

if you are crazy about the piano then you should get it. you will need to sell it some day when you upgrade to a grand. the market for used uprights is much more active in the lower price range. it’s hard to sell an expensive upright, so the essex can be good in that respect, but in my experience, the best uprights are yamahas and bostons…don’t know much about the kawais. of course, steinway is great, but 10k for an upright?

Thanks guys. I did try some Japanese uprights - a Yamaha U3 and a couple of Kawais, but none of them felt as comfortable as the Essex.

I’d love a Boston, but it’s sadly outside my budget! :frowning:

you can rent a boston. i did that when i was starting out. the rental fees then applied to the purchase of that piano, later on. this was from steinway hall in ny. i don’t know where you are, but maybe your dealer will extend that same deal (most do).

i remember the rental (this was over 6 years ago) was around $75 per month.

also, why not a used boston? have you looked at pianomart.com?

Thanks guys… Bought the Essex, been playing it solidly for about 3 months now and I still love it!

It’s a cracker for the :chop: ets!

Essex is a korean-made piano built designed by Steinway

kinda like Boston (built by kawai) designed by Steinway
