P. S. I love so much those quizzes. Sometimes I wish I listen to more music without knowing the performers…

EDIT: This Brahms 1 sounds like from good old days… Somebody older then Pace maybe…

This pianist is male and is deceased.

The Liszt sounds like it could be Rian de Waal. But the Brahms sounds like Orozco. :lib:

I stayed away from this since these mystery pianist quests tend to take too much of my energy - if I don’t recognize it yet think it could be someone I’ve heard it drives me nuts, and I can’t get it out of my head until I’ve found the pianist. But if it turns out to be Rian I def agree. I’ve heard some lovely playing from him as well.

It’s Rafael Orozco. I’ll be posting a few of his recordings over the next few days, including some vinyls that have never been released on CD.

I know he’s not a particularly sensitive artist, but his technique was phenomenal and his sense of rhythm reminds me a bit of Richter.

Yes he can be electric. His live ossia cadenza to the Rach 3 is my favorite.

Rezpec, I used to like him a lot and it’s been a number of years since I listened to him. I remember one concerto performance on video (can’t even recall which one) where he was having a great power struggle with the conductor over tempo, with each trying to force the other to yield.
