My carnauba flakes, stearic acid, and palm oil arrived today. Gonna bust. 
Hopefully works better than hexane than mineral oil shits which looks impressive but only improved sound a little.
I have time now so I rewrote the code in that historical AI denoise project to accept stereo files, process each channel separately and output stereo at 24bit instead of 16 bit. Def save some time if you got those files. Paste that shit in colab if you need it.
Holy shit. I wasnât expecting this to work but it worked extremely well.
I put down the carnauba / hexane solution and buffed it in. My takeaway from this is you need a dilute maybe 5 or 10 to 1 cuz the wax falls out of solution pretty quickly on temp dip due to evap. No worries if it does cuz you can thin and buff with more hexane.
Iâll post a completely raw snip. Both background hiss and clicks dropped a lot. What I wasnât expecting was detail improve. Maybe needle tracks better cuz no shit energy confusing it.
Next up I"m going to add my homebrew low viscosity mineral oil plus boron nitride particles lube - ultrasonically dispersed. That seems like a better way to go than olden times lubes.
Raw clip has no top shelf so I can hear whatâs going on up there as heads up.
Same but with the mineral oil = BN on top of carnauba - subtle⌠will clean off and try other lubes

I guess carnauba gives some benefit in noise and detail but everything else probably not worth doing on top of it - just subtely shifts tonal quality of hiss.
Will strip and see if I can build up some layers of canauba next.
Wow lots of info on friction and carnauba wax. Gonna try siliicone oil. Could reduce friction 90%. Tried and added to list. Best yet but still pretty subtle.
Cleaned up version from last of these tests. Needs a treble cut but you get point.

Got Moiseiwitchâs 1928 Medtner Fairy Tale disc. Doing carnauba to it cuz itâs in shit shape, but this time letting it fully set before I throw a needle on it. Risks needle not being able to remove any excess stuck in grooves but could probably just hexane it out if so. (Tho the flakes took a while to dissolve, so not sure)
I noticed carnauba fluoresces under black light so using that to see where layers too thick in the grooves.
