Bernstein iz an azz.
Bernstein’s sets are both pretty amazing, actually. The DG one is my favourite - though it is like 4x more $$$ than the SONY set.
Kubelik’s set is wikid too, and Tennstedt’s set with London is very much worth looking into as well. Solti with Chicago is a good set too.
I have another set, but I can’t remember which, at the moment.

As for the DG set to which you refer, are those the same performances of Bernstein available through Unitel on video and recently put out onto DVD? There are some really inspiring and very individual performances there, for example the choral section of the Resurrection!
They may well be. Since I have no desire to watch them, I can’t be more certain than that.
