This is really quite remarkable. I only know piano of course, but I’m not aware of any live recordings from China this early. From what’s on my map there is a Ponti recital from 1970, some Ashkenazy footage from 1980, and then things began happening on a more regular basis in the mid-90s. From the text there it sounds like these were taken from radio broadcasts too, and if they covered Oistrach this extensively I’m almost sure they would have with Richter as well. The question as I see it is probably rather whether the recs have survived, since it sounds like these might have because of the LP release they received.

Whether or not they still do - who knows.
Radio studios routinely reused tapes.

Or maybe they never existed. As far as I can tell, Richter didn’t play his concerts in these same halls, so maybe they weren’t set up to record him.
