Great conductor

wow I didn’t expect that, he always came across as so young.
Not that I’m doubting slipped dick :hatto: but is it verified?
It is also reported by the state broadcaster in Norway. So I doubt it is fake
Incidently, Jansons was extremely revered in Norway. He used to be the chief conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic
I heard him with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, Bruckner VI - a memorable concert.
A friend in the US travelled to Europe just to hear him conduct Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra a number of years ago. I’m not in to orchestra, but those who are appear to view him as one of the greats of our time.
I’ll listen to something with him tonight. Beethoven’s 7th I think, since I’m in that mood.
I have a 1984 perf of him conducting the Leningrad PO in Bruckner 7 in SPb. I’m thinking about sharing it but don’t really know this work and can’t assess if it serves his reputation well (he also recorded it later in his career in Germany)
I’m sure it’ll be good! Bruckner was one of his specialties…
Tru. My motha new him well before we immigrated.
RIP legend.
Hmm. At the funeral service of Sibelius´s son-in-law conductor Jussi Jalas at the Helsinki Cathedral my father played an organ transcription of the slow movement of Beet 7th (widow´s wish).
Sad news. His health was quite bad in the last two years or so but he still kept a relatively busy schedule, which left me a false impression that he will be fully recovered soon, so I did not take the chance to go to his last US tour.
Rest in peace.
He was favorite living conductor and I went to Vienna to hear him many times. The warm, rounded, beautiful sound of the orchestra he managed to create, so many details, constant need for perfection, fluidity of his interpretations, all these I’ll miss a lot…
Thanks!
