Scales/arps - shoulders and wrists? : x

sorry for my lack of clarity.
der are many wayz to play da 88.
zome ppl find wrizt rotation helpful. datz cool.
I’m saying it izn’t NECESSARY.
All dat meanz is IT’Z POZZIBLE to play anything WITHOUT da rotation.
If u find da rotationz helpful, then datz cool.
personally i prefer to not rotate.

i wanna make de chopet 2 vid but i cant decide whether or not to wait for mah new 88. itz comin in a week or 2. 1920’z Hamburg model O.

man, i’d say enjoy playing the piano while you still can. wtf.

hahah just coz i don’t rotate ma wrizt dozn’t mean i’m gonna drop dead or get carpal tunnel syndrome.
Ma teacher playz wivout rotation for 40 yearz an no injury.
like i said… der r many wayz to play da 88. wiv relaxation and correct posture none of dez wayz will lead to injury.

Do show us how to play the LH in mm. 37 et seq. of Alkan Op.39 no.10 with a static wrist.

To save you the trouble of counting, I refer to these passages et seq.:

(Good luck, by the way. Marc-André Hamelin - the paradigm of economy of motion - uses a very pronounced wrist rotation in this passage. As do I.)

Tru, or Chop3rdson last movement, same shit.

Haha you play 39-10?

Zheesh, you’re a beast.

The third movement actually seems doable. Not that I’m able to play it, but HOPEFULLY some day. The 2nd movement is really beautiful too.

But the first movement… Holy shit, just what the fuck is that.

enjoy your tendonitis

hahahah ive managed to get through op. 10 chopets, chopzon 2, 4 balladez, rach 2nd and 3rd concerti, waldstein & moonlight, T.E. 10 and 5 in the last year and a half without any symptoms of tendonitis or any other RSI so i’m not too worried.
just because someone does things differently then you doesn’t mean they are on a slippery slope to hell.

Welcome back, FurryMeiztah. I wuz afraid you wuz zcared away.

N await a rec of yo TE 5, ChopBall4, n da ROCK3. I find the Rock3 a bit hard to believe, but… I never know.

hahah tiz not as hard az de rach 2. more notez but de patternz iz more comfortable fit under de hand. rachmaninoff himself found the 2nd much more difficult.
therez nothing wrong with wrizt rotation and other extraneous motions of de armz and shouldaz… itz just not the mozt efficient way to do thingz.

in regardz to mah recordingz i need to find the battery charger and uploading cable for my digicam den i pozt 10/2 and 4th ballade on ma new 88.

all diz in a year? quite rezpectably…
pozt da FF (pimpetz no.5 feux folletz)

tru i can vouch fo tha KILLAH’z rep :stop:

:doc:

aah but diz year I didn’t have to go to zkool so I could practise many hourz. I am lucky to have parentz that let me stay home for a year.

I believe tech iz all about shaping da handz while remaining relaxed. Practicing scalez and arpz iz good once de handz are ready but until then I believe onez time could be betta zpent.

call me a crackhead…but all I can zay is… it workz.

Haha rezpec da time usage… but didn’t you say you do about 4/day? That’s pretty sparse for no school or job.

i go for 6… 2 in morning 2 in afternoon 2 in evening. but i’m a lazy mofo zo it don’t alwayz get that much. i try to make up for it by doing more the week of performancez.

Randomly duz you have AIM? You can add me for da dizcuzzion of fury n JIHAD 8)

As I said, I would be fascinated to see you play that passage in the Alkan without using wrist rotation.

If indeed you are so enlightened in relation to technique and repertoire, I would certainly expect more maturity than is displayed by describing a reference to wrist rotation as ‘de funniezt sheeyat i’ve heard all day’. But to each his own.
